Help Create Equality for Women in the Arts – Sign the Petition Today!

Did you know that women working in American theatre receive less than 20% of production opportunities nationwide? Wouldn’t it be great if government-funded arts organizations were required to offer an equitable portion of their funding to women working in the arts?

We think so, too. So does the League of Professional Theatre Women, an organization that has been fighting to connect gender parity and government funding for years.

Join The Pekoe Group in signing a petition, initiated by League of Professional Theater Women member Yvette Heyliger, asking the Obama administration to enact legislation guaranteeing women equal access and opportunity for employment in government-funded arts organizations.

The petition needs 100,000 signatures by Friday, February 6 to get an official response from The White House, so let’s do this!

Here’s what to do:

1. Sign the petition.

2. Publicly endorse the petition. Have your organization endorse the petition on their website, in an eblast, and via social media platforms.

3. Spread the word! Share this info with your community in person, via email, and on social media, and encourage others to do the same!

Remember, the deadline is Friday, February 6, so don’t wait: sign the petition today!
