The Ultimate NY Fall Bucket List

Ah, fall. The air is crisp, pumpkins are enjoying their moment in the spotlight, and the holidays are just around the corner. Like… right around the corner, actually. We’re talking just a few more weeks before it’s all winter all the time. So before this majestic season kicks the bucket, here are TPG’s Top 10 ways to get the most out of Autumn 2014 in New York.

The Ultimate NY Fall Bucket List

1. Run the New York City Marathon

The marathon is Sunday, November 2, so you’ve got just over two weeks left to train! That’s enough time, right? Ok so, maybe you’ll just go cheer people on.

Or you can…

2. Walk in the Village Halloween Parade

No running required, but you will need a killer costume. This year’s theme is “The Garden of Earthly Delights,” so get creative. Enter the lineup on 6th Ave (at Canal St) starting at 6:30pm on October 31.

3. Star Gaze on the High Line

Think you can’t see the stars in the city? Think again! Head over to the High Line at dusk on Tuesdays in October and take a peek through a high-powered telescope from the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York.

4. Queens County Farm Museum

Get lost in The Amazing Maize Maze and pick the perfect pumpkin at the Queens County Farm Museum on weekends through the end of October!

5. Storm King Art Center

Prefer to see art outdoors? Get upstate and check out the beautiful sculpture park that is the Storm King Art Center, now through the end of November.

6. The Last Outdoor Supper

Food trucks. Brunch on the patio. Rooftop Happy Hours. These outside eats won’t be around much longer, so grab a light sweater and soak up your final outdoor meals of the year.

7. Oktoberfest… Sort Of

Ok so technically Oktoberfest ends at the beginning of October. But we won’t stop you from heading over to the Astoria Beer Garden, grabbing a pint, and trying out your German accent.

8. Take the Best Fall Instagram Photo Ever

Fall is gorgeous. So take a stroll though Central Park, Prospect Park, or Fort Tryon Park (preferably on your way to the Cloisters) and snap a pic. #nofilter necessary.

9. See the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon Inflation

Before the iconic balloons take flight on Thanksgiving morning, see them come to life on the Upper West Side. Viewers can walk through a path outside of the American Museum of Natural History from 3-10pm on Wednesday, November 26.

10. See a Show!
