Hotspots to Hit Before the Holidays

With Halloween now over, holiday merchandise and decorations are popping up around the city. Yet fall is still here and the holidays are not yet! There is a chill in the air, but it will still be several weeks before the real cold sets in. It is a great time of year for those who still want to participate in outside activities. And of course there are plenty of inside activities for those who wish to enjoy autumn from the indoors. Whether you still want to bask in the fall splendor or are ready to begin celebrating the holidays, there are a wide range of options available.

Indulge in delicious treats. Visit Magnolia Bakery for a piece of pumpkin pie or a snickerdoodle cupcake. Pop in to a cafe to sip on some hot apple cider. Or chow down on something from a food cart. If you have not tried a warm brussels wafel with spekuloos (tastes similar to gingerbread) spread from the Wafels & Dinges truck, you do not know what you are missing.

Get your holiday shopping done early. Hit up all your favorite boutiques and department stores before the last minute shoppers swarm. If you are looking for an outdoor holiday market, you are in luck. The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park are open already! Stop by to browse the wide selection of accessories, clothing, art, and holiday decorations that can be purchased.

Enjoy the outdoors. Before snow covers the ground, take a jog in Central Park. Or feel free to walk, bike, or rollerblade if you so choose. No matter what, you don’t want to miss the pinnacle of the fall foliage! If you are ready for winter, dust off your ice skates and glide on over to the Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink. Now is the chance to show off your best tricks before the rink becomes packed!

See a new show. Fall is a time of a large number of Broadway and off-Broadway show openings. Be one of the first to see what could be the next big hit! If you are in the mood for a Broadway show, check out Bonnie and Clyde, a new musical about the infamous duo. For the more adventurous theatergoer, see Burning, a black and white comedy about sex, art, and race.
