March 6, 2014The Pekoe Group is full of ideas. A lot of them are awesome and a few of them are crazy. The best ones are a little bit of both.
A couple weeks ago, we had one of our crazy awesome ideas. And everyone in Times Square got to witness it.
In honor of The Great Comet’s final week of performances at Kazino, we wanted to do something special. We wanted to celebrate great literature making great theater, like The Great Comet.
So we decided to read Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace out loud in Times Square without stopping.
All 560,000 words. All 1,215 pages.
117 people came out to read. We read for 53 hours and 45 minutes. All day and all night. We read whether it was 44 degrees or 22 degrees.
We even read in the snow.
It was awesome. Crazy awesome.
