The Critics Have Picked! And They Chose PTP/NYC!

If you haven’t seen at least one of PTP/NYC’s shows yet this season, you are doing summer wrong.

Seriously, you know a theatre company is doing something right when they’ve not only lasted for 28 seasons, but have continued to kill it on stage every. single. year.

This year is no exception with two awesome shows in rep.

The first, Gertrude – The Cry, is Howard Barker’s provocative and deliciously twisted response to Hamlet that shakes up Shakespeare in all the right ways. Time Out New York named the play a Critics’ Pick, calling it “Electric and scalpel-sharp” and stamping it with Four Stars of approval.

The second is Pentecost, David Edgar’s intriguing play about a newly discovered work of art that sparks debate in the basement of a church just before the group of disputing art experts are unexpectedly taken hostage in a riveting second act. Named a Critics’ Pick by none other than The New York Times, this play is one you won’t want to miss.

Do yourself a favor and go see these shows.  They are only playing through August 10th so get on it. Visit ptpnyc.org for tickets.
