Flea Markets overflow with absolutely everything: antiques, clothing, toys, and even tools. Whether you are a bargain hunter, an avid collector, a vintage enthusiast, or just a browser, you can uncover a treasure that caters to your tastes.
New York City has an abundance of flea markets that are worth checking out:
Mark your calendars on Sunday, September 23 for The 26th Annual Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction, held once a year by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (BC/EFA). From 10am – 7pm, in Times Square, Shubert Alley and along West 44th Street, take pleasure in one of the theatre community’s favorite events. You can buy props, costumes, playbills, cast recordings and autographed memorabilia from various Broadway shows, past and present. All proceeds go to the continuing fundraising for BC/EFA.
For year-round bargains, start with New York City’s best-known flea market, located on 39th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues. The Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9am – 6pm. In this market, you will find a diverse assortment of vintage clothing and accessories, cool antiques, hardware, novelty items, records, books and more!
Get to know a different part of Manhattan by traveling to the Upper West Side, where you can visit The Green Flea located on Columbus Avenue between 76th and 77th Street. Open Sundays from 10am – 6pm, and occasionally open Saturdays (call 212-239-3025 to make sure).
Be a little daring and get out of the island of Manhattan! Hop on a train or drive across the bridge to one of the two Brooklyn Flea locations, open rain or shine.
On Saturdays from 10am – 5pm, find some hidden gems at the Fort Greene Flea located at 176 Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenue. Mingle with the diverse and eclectic crowd while examining art, retro clothing, old toys, and jewelry.
Continue browsing on Sundays from 10am – 5pm at the Williamsburg Flea located on the East River Waterfront (between North 6th and 7th Streets). Besides the various goods available, the skyline view is amazing!
Each flea market, just like their merchandise, is unique and special; every one of them will offer a different experience. You never know what you will uncover.
