June 9, 2016The Tony Awards are just days away!! *doing full Thoroughly Modern Millie choreography on the inside*
The 70th Annual Tony Awards are happening live this Sunday, June 12 at 8/7c! But you don’t have to be at the Beacon Theatre in NYC to have a Tony’s night to remember. With our tips, you can throw the ultimate Tony Awards soirée at home:
1. Set the stage.
Bring the heart of Times Square to the heart of your living room! Create your own Shubert Alley with a wall of Playbills, escort your guests to their seats by taxi, or hang up some top hats as decor (these will come in handy when the inevitable A Chorus Line number breaks out).
2. Make it ‘grammable.
If it’s not on Instagram, it may not have happened. So create your own red carpet, step and repeat, or photo booth to capture those picture perfect moments.
3. Take a bite out of Broadway.
We all know the best part of a party is the snacks. Get specific with #Ham4Ham sandwiches or Waitress-inspired mini pies, or stick with the crowd-pleasers like Playbill-decorated cupcakes or any food dressed in a tuxedo!
4. Don’t forget the drinks!
Pop the champagne! Or take it a step further and Broadway-ify your bevs with a fun Tony-inspired cocktail or mocktail (Fanta of the Opera float, anyone?)
5. Playing games is the thing.
Ballots → Have your guests predict the winners with printable ballots from TonyAwards.com.
Bingo → Get printable versions of both Tony Award Bingo cards from Drunk Broadway. (You can go ahead and mark off “Lupita Nyong’o is flawless.”)
Shots! → Make a drinking game of the ceremony! We suggest “Not Throwing Away Your Shot” shots. Basically, you take a shot every time Hamilton wins. #16ShotsLater…
6. End the night with a little swag.
Send your guests away in style with full-on bags of swag or a take-home treat.
Finally, tune in to CBS and enjoy the show!
