The Pekoe Group’s 2012 Holiday Guide

Everyone loves New York City during The Holidays! We certainly enjoy shopping for holiday gifts, adorning trees with lights and ornaments, and attending holiday parties with friends and family. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Check out these activities we think every New Yorker should enjoy each holiday season.

Ice Skating – Now that it’s colder outside, ice skating rinks have popped up throughout NYC. We definitely recommend taking your friends or family out for this outdoor winter activity. Citi Pond at Bryant Park and Wollman Rink in Central Park are two city favorites. But be sure to skate at Rockefeller Center and see the most popular holiday tree in NYC.

Window Displays – While you’re out holiday shopping, be sure to check out the window displays of the big department stores such as Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Henri Bendel. This year’s displays include holiday traditions from around the world, décor from the 1920s, a snowflake spectacular light show, and more!

Holiday Performances – Each season brings special holiday performances for all to enjoy. This year we highly recommend checking out the hilarious new play Let’s Kill Grandma This Christmas. This twisted black comedy will certainly ease the stress of holiday shopping and preparation.

Small Business Shopping – If you’re having trouble trying to find those perfect gifts for friends and family, be sure to check out the holiday markets at Bryant Park, Grand Central, Columbus Circle, Union Square, and Chelsea Market. These shops will have anywhere from 25 to 100 vendors with a wide variety of unique gifts.
