Introducing George S. Kaufman’s New Website!

To say George S. Kaufman was a successful playwright is quite the understatement. Every single Broadway season from 1921 to 1958 had a play that was either written or directed by Kaufman going on – talk about the Golden Age of Broadway! Since then, his shows have seen countless revivals all over the country. In fact, one of his plays is on Broadway right now. It’s a little show called You Can’t Take It with You starring James Earl Jones, maybe you’ve heard of it? Kaufman was even a character in the 2014 Tony Nominee for Best Play, Act One, about the life of his writing partner Moss Hart. The play was based on Hart’s autobiography, of which he said, “If it is possible for a book of this kind to have a hero, then that hero is George S. Kaufman.”

You’re probably starting to get the point: this guy was a huge deal for theatre. That’s why we are so proud to have designed this awesome new website for him. Check out the sleek new design and explore the world of George S. Kaufman by getting to know his many works in depth and reading special insights on this incredible theatrical force from Woody Allen, Zoë Wanamaker, David Zippel, and his daughter, Anne Kaufman.
